Specialist SEO for the Removals Industry
SEO for Removal Companies
We help UK removal companies rank across every town they serve and turn that visibility into booked moves, backed by real, verifiable results, not vague promises.

In Short
What Is SEO for Removal Companies?
SEO for removal companies is the process of optimising a moving company’s website and Google Business Profile so it appears in search results for the specific towns, postcodes and move types it serves — house removals, office relocations, storage, international moves. It covers technical SEO, local SEO, content and link building, and increasingly, visibility in AI-generated answers on Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and similar tools, since more removal enquiries now start there too. It’s aimed specifically at generating quote requests and bookings, not just website traffic.
Already Working With Removal Companies
We Already Work With Removal Companies Across the UK
We work with removal companies including Central Moves Ltd and Removals Swindon, covering everything from single-depot local operations to multi-town service areas. This page explains exactly what specialist removals SEO looks like in practice, drawn from that work, not a generic template with “removals” dropped in. Their real organic search-session growth, pulled directly from their own live Google Analytics accounts, is shown further down this page. If a prospective agency can’t show you real numbers from a real removals client, ask why.
Why Removals Is Different
Why Removal Companies Need a Different Approach to SEO
Removals is not a generic local-service search category. Demand is seasonal: spring and summer bookings can run several times higher than winter, and by the time someone is searching, they’re usually comparing two or three quotes before they book. Search behaviour splits between broad terms (“removal companies near me”) and highly specific, high-intent terms (“removal company in [postcode]”, “office relocation [city]”), and most removal companies only rank well around their depot address, missing enquiries from every other town they cover. Winning this channel means building visibility across your entire service area, for every move type you offer, and being one of the two or three companies a customer actually contacts.
Organic Search Growth
Real Results, Not Vague Promises
Search through removals SEO agencies and you’ll see the same unverifiable claims repeated: “300% more enquiries,” “top 3 rankings guaranteed.” We’d rather show you actual reporting from actual removals clients.
These are organic search session figures pulled directly from live Google Analytics 4 reporting, not rounded marketing stats, and we can show you the dashboard.
From Central Moves’ full case study: in an independent two-year review of their Google Analytics (Feb 2024–Feb 2026), the SEO work delivered 16,197 sessions — 49% of all website traffic — and 1,639 conversions (61% of all conversions) at a 10.1% conversion rate, the single biggest and best-converting channel. We also run their Google Ads and social media, so the case study shows organic, paid and AI-search traffic all growing together, not one channel propped up by another. February 2026 was the strongest month on record across all three at once.
AI search is already converting: Central Moves’ referral traffic from ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Claude grew from zero sessions in early 2024 to 58 in February 2026 alone, converting at 11.0%, above the site-wide average of 8.2%. This is a real, measured channel now, not a speculative one.
What's Included
Our Removals SEO Framework
Six areas we work on together for every removals client, tailored to your service area and move types.

Technical SEO
A fast, crawlable, mobile-first site so Google can properly index every service and location page you have.

Service Area & Local SEO
Dedicated, genuinely useful pages for every town, city and postcode you cover — not just your registered depot address.

Google Maps & the Local Pack
Google Business Profile optimisation, review generation and citation building so you appear in the map pack for "removal company near me" searches.

Topical Authority
Content built around every move type you actually offer — house removals, office relocations, storage, international and European removals, man and van.

Backlink Authority
Earned links from moving-industry bodies, local press and legitimate directories — the trust signals that separate real authority from a link-farm shortcut.

AI Search Optimisation
Most removals SEO providers still only optimise for classic Google rankings. We also structure content to be cited in AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity.
The Detail Most Agencies Skip
Why Multi-Location Removals Sites Quietly Lose Rankings
The single biggest technical risk for a removals company covering multiple towns is near-duplicate content. Mass-producing dozens of location pages from one template, with the town name swapped in and little else changed, is exactly the kind of thin, repetitive content Google’s algorithms are built to detect, and it can suppress rankings across your whole site, not just the affected pages.
We avoid this by writing genuinely distinct content for every location page: real local detail (postcodes, landmarks, specific access or parking notes relevant to that town), Service schema scoped to that location, and a clear internal linking structure that signals to Google which pages matter most for which area. Where a location genuinely doesn’t warrant its own page, we consolidate rather than create thin content just to hit a page count.
What We Actually Build
The Content Behind the Framework
“Topical authority” only means something if it’s backed by real content. Here’s what that actually looks like on a removals site:
- Service pages — one per move type: house removals, office relocations, storage, international removals, man and van.
- Location pages — one per town or postcode genuinely served, each with distinct, useful content, not a template with the name swapped.
- Moving guides & checklists — the informational content that earns links and builds trust before someone's ready to book.
- Case studies & proof — real client results, not generic testimonials.
Scope of Work
How Local, Regional & International SEO Actually Differ
The pricing tiers above reflect real differences in scope, not a generic package split. Here’s what actually changes at each level.
Local
One town or city, one core service area. A small number of genuinely useful pages (your core service pages plus your local area), a fully optimised Google Business Profile, and a focus on the “near me” and “[town]” searches that convert fastest.
Regional
A county or a spread of towns and postcodes. Every additional town needs its own distinct location page and its own citations, so both the content programme and the technical discipline around duplicate content scale up significantly.
European & International
Competing against established international movers with years of accumulated authority. The focus shifts to a broader keyword footprint (customs and documentation guidance, country-specific moving content) and a heavier link-building push to break into that market.
Beyond Blue Links
Google Business Profile and the Local Map Pack
For a lot of “removal company near me” and “removals in [town]” searches, the first thing a customer sees isn’t the organic results at all: it’s the three-listing map pack, driven by Google Business Profile (GBP) rather than your website. A removals company can have solid organic SEO and still lose most of the click-throughs on those searches if the GBP side is neglected, so we treat it as a first-class part of the work, not an afterthought.
In practice that means the primary and secondary GBP categories matching how people actually search (not just “Moving Company”), service areas set to reflect towns you genuinely cover, a steady cadence of review requests rather than a one-off push, photos that are geo-tagged and updated regularly, and the Q&A and Products/Services sections filled in properly rather than left blank. Review volume and recency are a real ranking factor in the map pack: a removals company with 80 reviews from the last 18 months will usually outrank one with 200 reviews that stopped coming in three years ago.
What We See Go Wrong
Common Technical SEO Mistakes on Removals Websites
These come up repeatedly across removals sites we’ve audited, and each one is quietly costing enquiries:
- No click-to-call on mobile: the quote form is the only conversion path, which loses the customer who wants to ring and ask about a specific move.
- Heavy, unoptimised hero images slowing the quote-form page down: page speed is a ranking factor and a conversion factor, and removals sites are frequently image-heavy.
- Inconsistent NAP (name, address, phone) between the website, Google Business Profile and directory citations, especially common for multi-depot companies, and it undermines local trust signals.
- Missing or incomplete Service and LocalBusiness schema: leaves Google to guess what you offer and where, instead of being told directly.
- No internal linking between location pages and relevant service pages: each page ends up an island instead of reinforcing the others.
- Photos with no descriptive alt text or geo-relevant file names: a missed, low-effort signal for both image search and accessibility.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does SEO cost for a removal company?
Local SEO (single depot, one town or city): typically £350–£700/month. Covers one Google Business Profile, one core service area, and a focused local keyword set: the smallest scope, so the smallest spend.
Regional / multi-area SEO (a county or a spread of towns and postcodes): typically £700–£1,500/month. Every extra town you want to rank in needs its own genuinely useful location page, its own citations, and a proportionally bigger content and link-building programme. Cost scales with the size of your footprint, not a flat package price.
European & international removals SEO: typically £1,200–£2,500/month. You’re competing against major international movers with far bigger content libraries and backlink profiles, plus a broader keyword footprint (customs and documentation guidance, country-specific moving content), which is what pushes the cost above local or regional, not language localisation.

Why has SEO gotten more expensive, and why should I be wary of cheap SEO?
Two things are driving cost up industry-wide in 2026. First, search has fragmented: it’s no longer enough to rank in classic Google results. Removal companies now also need visibility in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity when people ask for moving company recommendations, and each of those needs its own optimisation work (entity structuring, citation-worthy content, technical set-up) on top of traditional SEO. Second, doing this properly takes real hours from real specialists. At typical UK agency rates, a genuinely low monthly fee simply doesn’t buy enough time to do the work properly.
That’s also why very cheap SEO is a risk, not a bargain. Rock-bottom pricing usually means automated, templated or low-quality tactics: mass low-quality backlinks, thin AI-generated content, and no real reporting access to your own Google Analytics or Search Console. Agencies that guarantee specific rankings, won’t give you access to your own data, or lock you into long contracts with no performance ties are the clearest warning signs. Cheap SEO tends to cost more in the long run, once you’ve paid to have the damage undone.
How long does it take for a removal company to rank on Google?
Local removals keywords typically start moving within a few months of consistent technical and content work, with momentum building over 6–12 months as service-area pages and authority signals compound. Google Business Profile / map-pack visibility can move faster than organic rankings, sometimes within weeks of fixing categories, service areas and review cadence, because it responds more directly to profile completeness and review signals than to the slower-building authority that organic rankings depend on. Regional and multi-depot campaigns take longer to mature than single-depot local SEO simply because there are more pages, more citations and more competitive terms to build authority across. Seasonal demand means starting in autumn or winter positions you well for your busiest period the following spring.
What keywords matter most for removal companies?
Keyword demand splits by move type and by intent, and treating them as one list is the most common mistake we see.
By move type: house removals, office and commercial relocations, storage, international and European removals, student moves, and man-and-van/small removals each attract a genuinely different searcher and a different keyword set, and they shouldn’t be squeezed onto one generic service page.
By intent: “[service] near me” and “[service] in [town]” searches convert fastest because they’re ready to book; “cost of removals” and “cheap removal company” searches are earlier-stage and price-sensitive; “best removal company [town]” searches are comparison-stage and reward trust signals. The highest-converting terms are usually the narrowest ones: lower volume, much higher intent.
Do you work with removal companies covering multiple depots or franchise areas?
Yes. Multi-depot and franchise setups are a large part of what we do. The approach differs from single-depot SEO in a few concrete ways: each depot typically needs its own Google Business Profile with an accurate service-area radius rather than one shared profile stretched across the whole territory, location pages have to be genuinely distinct per depot and per town (not the same copy with the address swapped, which is the duplicate-content risk covered above), and citations need building per depot rather than once for the whole company. Where depots’ service areas overlap, we also have to actively manage keyword cannibalisation so pages aren’t competing with each other in the same search results.
How is this different from a generalist marketing agency adding removals as one more industry page?
Removals has real quirks a generalist agency usually misses on their first (or third) attempt: sharp seasonal demand swings, duplicate-content risk from location-page templates, the split between organic rankings and Google Business Profile / map-pack visibility, and keyword intent that varies enormously by move type. We work with removal companies as a core part of our client base, not a templated add-on. Part of a Wider Growth Strategy
SEO Is the Foundation, Not the Whole Picture
Everything on this page is about search, because that’s usually where a removals company’s biggest opportunity sits. But we also manage Google Ads for immediate enquiries while organic rankings build, and social media (organic and paid) to stay visible between searches. Central Moves is a live example: we run their SEO, Google Ads and social media together, which is why the case study above shows all three channels compounding rather than one carrying the others.
